Reviews
This is the quintiessential ,most thorough, book on the subject of the interaction between Dutch & Flemish artists & Venetian/ artists & their mutual influences on each other in the 15th/16th centuries . Although it is 15 yrs old, to my knowledge, there has not been a been a better book on this subject done since. Each entry is comprehensive & written for the scholar as well as the dilettante. The illustrations are excellent & in color & related works are shown for each entry.I saw the exhibition in Venice in 1999 for which it was written but the catalogue did not then exist in English. I am happy to have found it now. This will be the"bible" on the subject for many years to come.Canaletto
