fbus 24 Ingrid BergmanTaschen Movie Icons, Scott EymanBenny Hills, in his tv show, regularly persiflaged prudish Nordic sex films and silly beauties. Ingrid Bergman did a biting self-persiflage along the same lines as old and neurotic, proto-Nordic former child nurse in Murder on the Orient Express (Sidney Lumet, 1972), for which she rightly got an Oscar for supporting actress. In real life, she was definitely more progressive, at times not divorced from her first husband yet and already married to Italian cineaste Roberto Rosselini. By the time she married for a third time, her second marriage had already been annulled by Italian or Papal powers... Not short of skills, nor of self-confidence.fbus 24 Ingrid Bergman - 8 June 2012
